Thanks for all the info, there's certainly a lot to take in. But I only had as far back as John Smith born 1861 so it has definitely added. Are you in contact with anyone else researching this tree? :)

I have another line of Smiths born Elslack who are my direct line and I am in contact with them and one or two others on here are researching the Aldersleys.

Looks like our trees are intertwined as far back as Edward Husrler born about 1537 in Silsden through to the children of Thomas Mason & Ellen Whiteoak married in Holy Trinity, Skipton in 1787.

My Smiths of Lothersdale go back to John Smith of Crawshaw born 1795 & through my mother's paternal & maternal lines of his sons:-
William born 1822 married Alice Riddihough
John Smith born 1827 married Martha ?

Like you I also have Haworths, Moorhouses & Shuttleworths so I wonder where we connect.

Front Row L-R Lily/Joe/Emily nee Morgan/Sarah Ann/Emily{my Grandma] & Frank.
Sister Martha is not on the picture as she did not believe that
photographs should be taken on a Sunday!

I have a John Smith who married Ann Walbank in Thornton in Craven in 1822. Their first child, Betty, was baptised at Carlton in Craven in 1823. They were living in Lothersdale at the time of her baptism.
I do not know John's parentage however he was born c 1795. He died in 1860 in Skipton.
Does he fit in with any of your Smiths in Lothersdale.

Yours sincerely
Caimein

Doesn't look like there is a connection as my John Smith was married to Hannah & they had the following children:-
Mary c1818
Sarah c1819
William c1822 - 1873
James c1825 - 1889
John c1828 - 1866
Joseph c1830 - 1900
Henry c1834

Hello, Thanks for all this information.
The photo of my Great Grandma, and Jack my Grandad and all their family, was a delight for all my family.
My Father was William Smith Jacks oldest son. Of course we now have grandchildren of our own who are growing up very fast, and it was lovely to share all this with them.
I have done much research into ourfamily tree now for many years, and belIEve that the John of our direct line(ie. Kenneth Wilson's lists) and the William were brothers. I think they can also be traced back to the Smith's at Raygill and Marlhill. Well before this. I have looked at the registers in North Allerton. But there is a gap for a couple of generations.as in many registers. I think the land registry could be my next port of call. Many thanks for the photo.
