« on: Thursday 20 June 13 10:56 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm looking for any AIKMANs buried in Swinton/Simprin churchyard and Alexander and Jane CAMPBELL (possibly maiden name CLARK) died 1841 -1861

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Carole

Thank you so much hoprigg!  :)

I have an Agnes Aikman b abt 1773 married Robert Aitchison in Swinton possible sister of my 4 x gt grandfather James Aikman b abt 1784 Coldingham.

Do you know anything about Swinton and Simprin burial registers as although there are a number of years listed on the Scotlands People website for Swinton/Simprin burials I can find only one Aikman/variants mentioned in 1822?

Hello Carole,

MIs for Swinton

Robert Aitchison, Little Swinton died at Kemmerghame Mains, 6/04/1887 aged 82 years. This Robert's wife was Christina Kerr who died 23/02/1875 aged 71 years. Children mentioned are James died 24/02/1836 aged 3 years, Elizabeth died 7/03/1836 aged 1 year, Christina died 28/02/1830 aged 2 weeks,  John died 3/02/1861 aged 17 years, William died 26/02/1871 aged 31 years, Agnes died 13/04/1879 aged 52 years.

There are other Aitchisons. I can PM if you wish the other info or give me the names and I'll look through other graveyards nearby.

Hi Mags

Thank you very much for the information on Robert Aitchison and Christian Kerr and their family. I think the Aitchisons are cousins to my Aikmans from Swinton :)
