I think this might be him, James Mcfarlane birth date: 31 May 1841 ALLOA, CLACKMANNAN, parents John Mcfarlane Janet Laing. (Tullibody is on the outskirts of Alloa).

In 1851/61 Muirside, Alloa, Clackmannan with his parents and family. His father born Dunblane, Perthsire about 1801 is a Farmer. Rest of family born Tullibody.

James is possible in Perthshire in 1871 working for the railway.

Thank you Colin - that is him I'm sure.

It does make it easier to trace if you know where places are, so I thank you for this information.

Should you come across anything else on the MacFarlane Clan from Clackmannan or Dunblane, please let me know - it would be very much appreciated.

May I take this opportunity of wish you all t he very best for the festive season.

With sincere thanks
Maggie

1851 Census John is born c 1801 Dunblane, Perthshire and this is the only Christening I can find around that time/place;

Thanks Trish - that's brilliant - wonder when they changed from Farlane to MacFarlane - it looks like this could be it - John being son of Farlane.

Very sweet of you - have a great Christmas.

Sincerely
Maggie :)
