A lot of people seem to have the same problems researching Welsh genealogy. I found it much easier to research the English side of my family history but I've hit a brick wall with the Welsh side for much the same reason that other people have posted, common names, placenanes,non conformity ect. It is definitely more complex than the English side of things or at least it can be.
