All on FreeREG;\

MARRIAGE;
14 October 1802, St Mary, Watton, norfolk
John CATER, Single Man of Ashill Parish
Martha MARGETSON, Single Woman of Watton Parish
Witnesses, Ann MARGETSON, John BRAME, George BRAME

In Ashill;
HARRIETS Cators 1838 Marriage is there too with lots of info.
GEORGE  Cators 2nd Marriage in 1837 ( Geo/Ann are Witnesses at Harriets Marriage + Bertha Cator)
MARIA Cators 1828 Marriage to a Widower
Possible Marriage for ELLEN 1830 at Necton.

MARTHA Cators 1851 Burial age 75
JOHNS 1851 Burial age 82
First George and Berthas Burials also 1810/1814

So at least all the info can be confirmed by Parish Records.

Also Ellen FLOOD on 1841 Census has Parents JAMES/MARIA according to Familysearch.Org so it fits with Marias 1828 Marriage to James Flood.

Hi, my comment is for Suzzard???  I apologise in advance for popping up here out of the blue, but I landed on this thread while researching the history of our cottage in Ashill, which is NEXT DOOR TO THE RECTORY.  So I'm hoping that maybe John Cator was a previous resident of our home.  Anything anyone can pass my way would be gratefully received.

Apologies again, I shall now submerge once more......

Thanks Suz.  My daughter (our family genealogist) has found that there were 4 servants registered with The Rectory in 1871 so is chasing that down.  Until the 1970s our cottage was part of The Rectory estate and so it is likely that those servants lived in it.  From it's position and the surrounds, it's likely to have been the gardener's cottage as we have what is left of The Rectory's walled garden.

Anything you can add will be most welcome.

And to try to add as well as take, I assume the originators of this thread have read this???

Cheers!!
