« on: Friday 28 October 11 02:42 BST (UK) »
Hello All,

I'm looking for anyone who maybe able to help me with the Surname Fyfe/Fife etc.

My Particular Fyfe/Fife Is
John Fyfe born abt 1796     Died 1874 Tasmania, Australia.
Immigrated from UK in 1833 via Lady East to Tasmania.
Two other Fyfe's were listed,
Patrick ~ seems to have disappeared..?
Peter ~  born 1804

Wondering if someone could find parents for them :)  please.

Thanks for your assistance.

Does his death record give his parents names?

Did he marry in Scotland, if so to whom and when/where?

If he Married before he came to Australia, I'm unaware.
However he did marry an Elizabeth Milne in 1835, Hobart Tasmania.

As for his Parents, no they're not listed. :(

I Do Have an Article from one of his Great Grandchildren Marrying.
Its under Marriages, Between a Duncan & a Fyfe

Mmmm...this isn't making sense to me, sorry  :P

Hon. Sir John Fyfe, late of Fifeshire, how does this connect to a John Fyfe marrying an Elizabeth Milne is Hobart in 1835?

The surgeon Sir John Fyfe/Fife of Scottish parentage was born in Newcastle upon Tyne (John Fife (surgeon) `Sir John Fife` (1795-1871), was an English surgeon. Fife was born at Newcastle-on-Tyne in 1795, his father being a medical man of Scottish origin, practising at Newcastle. After qualifying as a member of the London College of Surgeons, he was for a short time an army assista...)

piggle-wabbit, we want to help  :) Can you talk us through how you have got to where you have please? We seem to be jumping from an 1943 marriage notice to an 1835 marriage....

Monica  :)

I Have no Idea, that was the only Article I could find mentioning a SIR in the family.
from Australia anyway.

I Don't think it could be the surgeon as he would've had to have gone back to England, & as far as i could find he stayed in Tasmania.

I'm not sure if Patrick or Peter & My John were brothers, but it seems likely.

Thanks for you Help.

My John Fyfe came out in 1833 on the Lady east from Liverpool.
he was Born about 1796 (doesn't say where)
He Married an Elizabeth Milne in 1835, Hobart Tasmania.

His Son George Peter b1840  is "Jessie's" Grandfather.

my John Fyfe would be her Great-Grandfather. but as far as I know he didn't move back to england.
I Have no idea who the SIR mentioned in the Paper is, but i'm trying to work out how he fits in.
I think they may have gotten the wrong John Fyfe.. in regards to the article.
I think the confusion is because, Both John Fyfe's are Born about the same time &  Died within a few years of each other.
I was originally looking for his Parents,
I think Peter & Patrick who also came out on the Lady East are his Brothers.

Sorry about the Confusion...Thanks once again

There is a page here on Rootschat dedicated to Tasmania resources www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,369953.0.html

Also, the main page for Australia www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,399.0.html

Looking at what is contained on death certs, you won't get confirmation of parents' names from John's death cert unfortunately www.jaunay.com/bdm.html
