Title: Clothier Boot Warehouseman
Post by: nickyhug on Friday 05 November 04 19:30 GMT (UK)
Hello
How do I find out what a "Clothier Boot Warehouseman" did?  Both my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother were both listed in the 1901 Census as their Profession or Occupation.  They were living in Willesden, Middlesex at the time.
Thanks in anticipation of a reply!!! :-\

Hi there

According to the

'Occupations of Olde'

http://rmhh.co.uk/occup/index.html

CLOTHIER / CLOTHESMAN / CLOTHMAN - who made or sold clothes
WAREHOUSEMAN - in charge of or employee in a warehouse
BOOT - pretty obvious

That's what I thought (obvious really, I know) but just wondered if I was missing something!
Oh by the way great link to Old Occupations Site, very interesting and quite funny when you see some of the names.
Thanks very much for your help Chris
