Surname help Brighton area
« on: Wednesday 13 August 14 13:44 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon,I'm trying to do a family tree for a friend. His mother was born in Brighton in 1936 to Vera Hunt who was unmarried..her father was a local chap by the name of Wallace/Wallis Cradell/Craddle/Craddell.I've tried a multitude of different computations of his name.I assume he was born around 1915 and assume again,he was from the Brighton area...any sleuths out there who fancy a challenge?
Thanks in advance

If Vera Hunt was unmarried .... then surely she would have been born a Hunt. Wouldnt her father therefore be a Hunt? Unless she too was illegitimate, in which case what evidence is there that a 20ish yr old Wallace Craddell was her father?

Just wondering if this is really the right chap as in your initial post you thought he was born around 1915 - well he seems to have been much older than that considering he was marrying in 1919 and also nothing has happened in the Brighton area as you thought.
