James Cochrane, 1805-1877 ... was the minister at Cupar (1st charge) from 1842-77

Hi "kirstyc"

I'm not connected, but the attached image is from Rev James Cochrane's entry in the Fasti Ecclesiĉ Scoticanĉ, New Edition, Volume VII: Synods of Fife and of Angus and Mearns, The succession of Scottish Ministers in the Church of Scotland from the Reformation, by the Rev. Hew Scott, D.D.

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

Hi "fifer"

I though you might be interested in the Funeral Notice for who I think may be your James from "The Argus" Melbourne, Victoria : Monday 12 September 1881:

"THE Friends of the late Mr. JAMES THOMSON, stonemason, many years hall-keeper, Fitzroy-Town-hall, are respectfully invited to follow his remains to their last resting place, in the Melbourne General Cemetery.
The funeral procession will move from his late residence, Fitzroy Town hall, THIS DAY (Monday, the
12th inst.), at a quarter to 2 o'clock precisely."

There isn't a Death notice, but this is sometimes the case in the Australian papers  ::)

Cheers
