Hi folks, I just wanted to cover off some housekeeping news before we get down to the business of the next batch of new content on PP.
We've had issues with our previous servers timing-out in recent months, and it's been a really tricky problem to get to the bottom of. Folks like yourselves have been most gracious in putting up with the situation, so on behalf of the PP team I wanted to thank you all for your patience.
We've just finished shifting the site across to new servers, and we're now seeing some substantial performance improvements - from inside our network, it's a lot snappier, even visibly just looking at a page loading. I'm not sure if it looks any faster to you folks, but it's possible you may notice a slight difference. Once we know everything has bedded in and survived a bit of a road test, we'll add some new content that we've got queued up. At the soonest, new stuff could be four weeks away.
The new servers will also be used for future versions of Papers Past, which is another interesting development we've got underway at the moment. We've started doing some basic user-testing of a prototype and it's proving a fascinating exercise.
OK, I'll be back with an update on the new content once we know how the rest of the test-drive of the new servers goes.
