Franky's Bar, Hanley
« on: Wednesday 29 October 14 17:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Do any person know who is, or was, Franky.  On this building is a very large photo/poster of a soldier (bust)  and at the bottom of the photos is the words "Franky's"  I can find no information as to who this person is or was.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

See attached photo of the building.

Captain Frank Gilbert was the father of the current licensee. I believe that he won a VC in the second world war. There is a board in the pub with memorabilia about him and his time in the army
