Hya Archie, thanks for the web sites on Inveresk. They give me a little knowledge of the area that my ancestors lived and came from.

Hya Archie, thanks very much. There is only one problem we have in researching our family tree and that is, (you'll wish you never asked)here goes.
William Greenlies married Elisabeth Peat in 1804. We know that William died 1823 and Elisabeth died 1843.

We just have not got a clue as to who William's parents were. His surname was changed to Greenlees on the birth of his son.

We have all the census results for this family from 1841-1901. There were no other Greenlees's or greenlies in the area at the time of his marriage or death, that is apart from his immmediate family.

Have you got any clues as to where we could look?
We have been through Scotlands People, IGI and Scots Origins.
Any help would be gratefully received.

There was a Margaret Greenlees who married in 1804 in Inveresk to John Mushart. Is she related to William?

I am correct in presuming that the Marriage in 1834 of William Greenlees to Margaret Sneddon is the son born 1814?

What about John Greenlees marrying Janet Finlayson 1847? Are they also immediate family?

Was there any further information on the marriage entry of William and Elisabeth or was it just names and a date?

The first part of this message is for kirsty, I'm sorry but the people mentioned don't seem to have any connection with me. Well not that I know of.
Duker I don't know of any Robert Fairnie whioo died in 1949.
My side of the fairnie tree ended with my g/g/grandmother Jane Fairnie who married William Greenlees my g/g/grandfather. I am in touch with someone who has more information on the fairnie tree. If I find any information to pass on to you both then I certainly will.
