William Bowen - Royal Navy in WW1
« on: Thursday 05 June 14 14:32 BST (UK) »
Would be most grateful for any information regarding two World War One members of the Royal Navy and both were called William Bowen.

One was born in Carmarthen in 1873 and the other in Haverfordwest in 1878.

Both were Chief Stokers and the Carmarthen one was killed in action in 1914 and the Haverfordwest one was killed in action in 1917.

Very many thanks
Peter

For the story and a photograph of William Bowen of the Amphion see my article in  Pembs Life Magazine for August 2012 page 19.
In addition to the previous info, both are remembered on the Plymouth War Memorial William of 1914 is on Panel 2 and William of 1917 on Panel 22
It is lightly that William died 1914 was probably the first Pembrokeshire loss in W.W. 1
