James, Elizabeth & Mary aren't with their family on the census of 1901 (below)

James would be abt 19, Elizabeth would be abt 17 and Mary 15 in 1901 I'd be grateful if anyone can find any of them.

I suspect Mary may be in an institution or hospital as she died in 1918 aged 32 *possibly* Dunblane, Stirling.

1901 census shows:
David Stewart 46, Coals Merchant b. p perth, Kincardine
Elizabeth Stewart 48, Perthshire, Crieff
David Stewart 12 (died 1918 WW1)
Janet Stewart 10
Margaret Stewart 8
Charles Stewart 4 (died 1915 WW1)

Address: Main St, Kincardine, Perthshire

Parents David and Elizabeth commemorated their deceased children on a family gravestone, which suggested to me that all 4 (inc eldest son died 1881) were buried elsewhere. I know 3 certainly were, which leaves Mary.

Not surprisingly, from the little you have mentioned, young Mary is a problem for 1901 so far. What has been the problems identifying her death that you think might be hers in 1918? You know me...just curious  ;D  8)

She's listed with the other children that died young away from home this is the wording per memorial

by David & Eliz STEWART, chn: John 1879 1881, David 1888 1918, Mary 1886 1918, Chas 1896 1915

John died 1881 age abt 2 buried Denny
Charles died 1915 Loos France on the first day of the battle
David emigrated to Canada 1906 but was drafted by British gov in 1918 and died just a couple of weeks before the Armistice.  Again France at Pas-de-Calais not far from where his brother died 3 years (almost to the day) earlier.
Which leaves Mary ...............  :-\

So many young deaths for them  :-\

Have you come across a possible for Mary in an institution in 1918?

No I haven't but the last census I have her on is age 5 in 1891.  I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy more SP credits.   ::)

I wonder if she's more visible on the 1911 census?  Her middle initial was S and I presume that was for her mother's maiden name of Sinclair.  If she was institutionalised wouldn't she be listed with just an initial?

Why do you think she was institutionalised prior to her death?
