Dear Bump,

I think I am a descendant of the son, George Percy WOOD you quote here and wondered if you are still monitoring these posts to be able to swap Information.

Kind regards
Woodzy
Australia

Dear All,

I am still searching for the parents of George Percy Wood, merchant of Belfast m Margaretta Kennedy, 3rd daughter of John Kennedy of Lurgan on 21/01/1840.
I have managed to find 7 of their children,Jane,George Percy, Maria,Margaretta,Florence,Eliza and Helena, baptized in Belfast.
George died in 1856 and Margaretta in 1859 and  some of the children were sent to the care of an elderly relative. ? Where.
I would be very grateful for any information on the parents of George Percy Wood senior and Margaretta Kennedy and the children.
I am now uncertain whether George Percy may have come from Sligo.
With thanks,
Bump. :D

Dear Woodzy,

Yes I am still monitoring these posts -the site luckily still notifies me.
George Percy Wood senior is my 3rd GGrandfather and I would love to swap notes.

How are you descended from George junior? I have done quite a bit of research on this side of the family but still have unanswered questions!!!
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Joanne.

I am presuming this other query is you !

Have you followed up the Essex theory as opposed to Waterford ?

Hi Tara,

One should never rely on family stories!!!
I have found (with some help from this site also) that my George Percy Wood actually lived in Belfast, but came from Sligo.
His parents came from Dublin, George Wood and Mary Hand but I haven't yet found  birth data for them, which I would love. They married on 26/08/1797 in Dublin and moved to Sligo. They had 9 children and father George was listed as a revenue officer on his son's marriage certificate.
There were a lot of Wood's in Sligo and one would think there was a connection, but I have not been able to make it yet.

With thanks,
Joanne.

Hi Joanne,

I am not sure how to use the board to contact you privately.
NB. I have not verified everything I have done to your get to your George Percy yet but have to George Percy Jnr if that makes sense...
however...

George Percy WOOD Snr is also my 3rd GG Father.

George Percy WOOD Jnr 1951-1934 (Master Mariner) married Emma HARRIS (Daughter of Thomas Harris another Captain) had 2 sons that I have found

        George Percy & Norman Allen

Norman Allen WOOD is my Great Grandfather.

My Grandfather is is still alive, although frail, and remembers going out to his ships sometimes in the harbour and I have access to some of his records from the ships but not all as yet.

Dear Woodzy,

My email address is * (they are underscores between my names) so hope this comes through to you.
I have George Percy and Emma also having a daughter, but I have no information about her, I also don't have any on Norman Allen, so that will be wonderful.
George Percy Kennedy Wood, brother of Norman had 2 marriages and from these 3 children.
I am not sure how much you know so will wait until you can contact offline to fill in the gaps.
With best wishes,
Joanne.

Dear Joanne,

I don't have any knowledge of the Daughter and can't find anything in the basic searches. I wonder if she died as an infant? The BDM doesn't list her in Australia.

I don't have the name "Kennedy" in my notes either for George Percy so that is interesting.
I don't have the children of that marriage as yet, but I have been to the garden where he and his last wife's ashes are. (I do have both marriages)
I have access to the archives to be able to photograph some of the documents on this George Percy I have already looked through a few but...
At the time I had no idea he was related to the George Percy I was looking for.

I have some of the George Percy Snr's daughters marriages from the parish registers.
I found it amusing that they appeared to all like much older men :)

I will contact you as soon as I can access the PM system and hopefully share some info.
I have just aquired photo's of Norman etc.
Nice to meet a new Cousin!
