looby: The doctor who identified yellow fever in the Philadelphia, USA epidemic of 1793 was a Dr. Benjamin Rush. As Dundee was a seaport and as immunology as we know it today did not exist, if a fatal virus arrived shortly after a ship docked from the USA, then "Rush Fever" might be a credible name in the early nineteenth century.

Just a guess, but I can't think of a better one.
