Evening all, time for another quick update :)

I have contacted the London Met Archives who have confirmed they hold records on my Gms birth & have requested for that info to be released, just waiting for documents for that & I'm hoping it may give me some solid info/details that I can match up to make things a little easier with dates etc.

Also I've got back a certificate which was ordered after info provided by rosei99 & I'm excited that it does confirm the middle name of 'Mary' which is something that all the others couldn't provide, with this in mind I'm anxiously waiting to see the other records from LMA as my Gm thought her biological mother was approx 16 in 1938 so I just need to find those details to narrow the search & confirm if in fact she was older than originally thought such as in the recent certificate.  :-\

Hope everyone is well x

That all looks very hopeful. Thanks for keeping us up to date.
Which is the certificate you received which confirms the middle name of Mary?
Let us know when the documents arrive from the LMA.  :)

Hi Ruskie,

I took Rosie99's advice & ordered the marriage certificate between a Holmes & Hoyle in Dec 1941 as there is that extra link connecting the same maiden name to the address I had on the birth cert, it was that info that had the middle name 'Mary' although would have made her a little older when she gave birth than originally expected so fingers crossed something else also points to that direction as I perhaps naively only looked for records around 1920.

Looking on ancestry there was only approx 7 leads for that name & area around that time and I had ordered two of them that I thought might be beneficial but the middle names differ so at least I can cross them off my list... just waiting for extra info now  :)

Thank you Louisa Maud that's kind of you to say, I think I am excited that progress is being made ( or even attempted haha) but my main aim has always been to be able to pass on my findings and make someone else very happy.

I did order the certificate you have mentioned below as I agree it seemed a great match but discovered the middle name was May not Mary (although I'm not ruling it out completely just in case).

I guess its all trial & error :)

Do you have Dorothy Holmes marriage, if so what information does it give for her father and who were the witnesses

I haven't ordered that one yet although can do if you think it would be beneficial?

Looks as though putting Dorothy's details in to Ancestry brings up a perfect match with someone else's records/tree indicating that the parents were:

Charles W Holmes 1884-1954 & Alice M stroud 1888-1980, only shows me some of Dorothy's siblings as the rest are restricted as private...

It looks as though the person with the Byers tree has been on there recently.  It could be worth you contacting them. I see they don't mention Phyllis by name.

I was thinking it was Dorothy's marriage you had sent for.  Is the father of the bride on the Holmes/Hoyle marriage Charles.  Who were their witnesses
