Penygroes to Nantlle
« on: Monday 02 September 13 17:17 BST (UK) »
In 1941 to 1946, my taid was living County Road, Penygroes, with various family members, me included, he was by then in his mid 70's,  one day he went missing from Bro Hedd,  he was found up in Nantlle, at Ysgybor, the farm where he had been brought up.  Obviously he was  already suffering from senility, as was stated on his death certificate in 1949.

The question I would like answered is........which way did he walk from County Road up to Ysgubor ?

This farm is accessed  by road  from upper Llandwrog (Vron, Carmel) , but would there have been shorter route by footpath?

Sorry I can't help you Glenys because I can't find where Yr Ysgubor is or was. If I knew where it was I might be able to help as I do a bit of walking in Nantlle.

Can anyone pin point it or provide a map indicating where it is?

Yes Roger, they are the correct coordinates and I can now see Ysgubor.

Which way did you go Glenys when you visited the farm?

If I were to walk up to the farm today it would be from Nantlle There are 3 or 4 starting points. I'm sure these routes would have been possible in the 40's. You mention the road from Fron. That route is also possible if you take the Cilgwyn route. This is off the top of my head so maybe others might have a view?
