I have conflicting info as to where exactly these two wed, Great Yarmouth or Herford shire in 1876 ?, Also found different records for the children, I have Emily E H Chote 1886, Bessie H 1882, Albert Harold H 1880 Algernon H 1878 & Madeline H 1877, now one record reads Royston & another Ashwell in Hertfordshire. Is there any way of confirming the children & also where they were born.

Edit - In 1891 census the children's birth place are listed as Ashwell

There are five children with them in 1891

Madeline 13
Algernon 12
Harold 10
Bessie 8
Emily 5.   All bn Ashwell


In 1901 Madeline, Albert, Bessie and Emily are still at home. Still bn Ashwell.
Looks as if Albert is same person as Harold.

If you look at Eliza in 1911 (sorry look ups are not allowed) you may find she enters the number of children she has had in her marriage.

Hi, going back to my family earlier, can anyone offer any help as to how I translate the  scribble entered for Occupation in the census, I am struggling with entries on the 1881 census as well as 1891 & 1901  for the Chote family , Albert W Chote Madeline I think was some sort of Teacher, Albert ?  Bessie & Emily Chote ? tried but failed to make sense, grateful for help.

Depends first IF they were all christened. Then on where they were christened ( not necessarily where they were born, for example sometimes eldest children were taken back to church where couple married, or to church where grandparents live) and then on whether christenings for that place are on line. Not all parish registers are on the internet by any means. So it may be a case of visiting the relevant record office.

Hopefully all the births can be found on freebmd.
