My mother Janet Munro's grandfather was James Thomson Munro born 22 March 1812 in Tain, county Ross and Cromarty. He married Elspet Dunn in Aberdeen in the Cathedral of St Machar on 15 June1849.  Elspet was born in Aberdeen and christened in the Church of St. Nicholas on 29 November 1823.  They later sailed to Australia.   Elspet is a common name in Scotland but I thought worthy of reply. Good Luck.

Hi,

So the son of James Munro and Elspet Mackay was another James Munro whose second wife was Mary Stark.

One of James Munro and Mary Stark's children was Alexander Munro born in 1769 - he could possibly be my ancestor.

Are any of you above direct male ancestors of the two James Munros  ? and if so have you taken part in the Munro DNA project ?

Thanks.
