Marriage at Llanfihangel-y-Pennant 1816
« on: Monday 01 September 14 20:52 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have access to Llanfihangel-y-Pennant PRs? FamilySearch shows a marriage there 20 Aug 1816 between Margaret Parry and Owen Jones.

My 2xgt grandmother Hannah Jones was baptised 31 Aug 1817 at Llanfrothen, Merionethshire, the daughter of Owen Jones and Margaret Parry his wife. Margaret Parry was baptised 1792 at Llanberis, Owen Jones was born abt 1786 at Ynyscynhaiarn (according to the 1851 census).

I'm hoping that any additional information in the parish record of the marriage (names of witnesses?, bride's/groom's parish?) will help link this marriage to the parents of Hannah Jones.

Thank you in advance.

See - http://genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CAE/LlanfihangelYPennant/

The only source seems to be the Caernarfon Record Office. Findmypast has many parishes but, unfortunately, not this one.

Thanks for replying David.
I cannot go to Caernarfon Record Office (I'm an exile in the south of England) so my hope was that someone with a copy or transcription of these PRs would be able to help. Of course, if anyone is visiting Caernarfon Record Office and is willing to look it up on my behalf, I would be very grateful.

Hi
As already mentioned, there's a Llanfihangel-y-Pennant in both Caernarvonshire and Merionethshire. The Caernarvonshire one covers the Cwm Pennant/Cwmystradllyn area; and has boundaries with the parishes of Dolbenmaen, Llanystumdwy, Criccieth, Penmorfa ,Ynyscynhaiarn, (all Caernarvonshire) and Llanfrothen (Merionethshire). The boundary also meets that of Beddgelert at a point.
