Hi,

I have John Mellon (b1880 Dundee) = Margaret McFalls 13 (b1888 Dundee) wed 01 Jan 1907 St. Joseph's R.C. Chapel, Dundee, Forfar, Scotland (her parents & siblings listed below for reference only to identify the family as it is John who is my relative).

Margaret's parents were John McFalls & Mary Donnelly.

John McFalls 50
Mary McFalls 45
Catherine McFalls 18
James McFalls 17
John McFalls 14
Margaret McFalls 13 (b1888) = John Mellon (b1880) wed 01 Jan 1907 St. Joseph's R.C. Chapel, Dundee, Forfar, Scotland
Joseph McFalls 6
Betsy McFalls 4

1909 - John travelled to 14 Howard St, Ludlow, Hampden, Massachusetts, USA, leaving his bride at home in 3 Burnett St, Dundee, Angus, Scotland

1910 - John is still in USA without his wife!

I haven't been able to trace what happened with them, whether he returned to Scotland or if she travelled to USA?

I would like to know if they had any children or anything else about them.

John had siblings who I have been unable to trace. James 1877 Ireland, Michael 1878 Ireland, Margaret 1882 Ayr (traced to NY) & Patrick 1884 Dundee although they all came to Scotland & moved to Newcastle-upon-Tyne & some, back to Dundee (Margaret & John) not sure where the rest went???

Any help would be very welcomed & appreciated.

Regards,

Annie.

There’s a death on Scotlandspeople for Margaret McFalls/Mellon. Also with the name Reilly, indicating she remarried. Died Dundee East 1958.

Marriage to Lewis Reilly, Dundee City 1920.

Lewis Reilly died Dundee City 1949, aged 59.

Thanks Elwyn,

Mmmmmmmmm, I wonder if John died oversees then & she remarried rather than a divorce.
Looks like end of that line in terms - no issue????

However, not proven, YET!  ;D

The 1920 marriage certificate should tell you whether she was a widow or divorced. You could purchase it on Scotlandspeople.

Also check the 1911 Scottish census to see if she was in Dundee and if she had any children.

Yes Elwyn,

Will check SP as I'm curious what happened to hubby John?

John was a half brother of my grandmother, born to my grandfather Michael Mellon's 1st wife Mary Casey (Dundee). Michael was widowed from Mary.

I class half's as family too - other's don't bother but at the end of the day they are half blood  :)
