Hi Ruskie

Thanks for the input.  In relation to the family, Ellen's father was a minister and as to the records the only place  I have found an exact date has been familysearch.  Your idea of ordering the film is a good one so thanks for that. :)

Hi BevL

Thanks for your input - one never knows when that little sliver of information fits the bits together so thanks for the input.  ;)

I am still doubtful that Agra is in Bengal, unless there are two Agras and/or two Bengals ..... :-\
(Familysearch records can sometimes be a bit dubious).

I hope someone can advise.

Good finds ShaunJ. So it seems likely that Ellen was also baptised there.

So what are everyone's thoughts on what "Chr" means?
(my vote is still for Christened )

Found this  while  searching Agra Bengal

 Bengal (Presidency)
An adminsitrative subdivision of British India. The Bengal Presidency covered the north and east of India and East Bengal (now called Bangladesh).

Maybe CHR  referred  to  the  CHRistian part  of  Agra  as  opposed to  the  Hindu/ Muslim  part ?
