Hi There

Our civil registration only began in 1864 so prior to that you are looking for church records.

The only site for that is rootsireland ~ even then though not all churches records were transcribed OR go back that far OR are mistranscribed.

Anyway,

The recently changed from a pay per view ~ €4 per TRANSCRIPTION

~ to a €25 one months subscription to view up to 1000 TRANSCRIPTIONS

So, it depends on how many Irish records that you need to look up.

Did I help you with this query before as it sounds familiar ?

I'm pretty sure that I saw William's baptism on the site (back when rootsireland had a free index).

Thank you Tara  for your prompt reply.
You have given me food for thought , whether or not to subscribe to such site as I have very little information relating to Ireland. wegsgirl.

Yes it's expensive if you only want to look up one or two records.

As I say I'm pretty sure that I was helping someone with this before.

I am on a few forums so I'm trying to remember.

I remember that there was William was from Johnswell in Kilkenny and that he had an older brother called James.

If memory serves me right though there was no marriage found for their parents.

To be honest though, when you are going back to early 1800's even if you DID find a church marriage record it is RARE for there to be any other information other than the couple married each other, the date & the church.

There won't be father's names or occupations or anything like that.

Possibly witness' which can sometimes give leads if they were siblings.
