With you putting in your post that William's parents were publicans in 'Bracon' (Brecon?) I had hoped that you would know their names.  :)

Looking at the National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966 for William John Charles, his widow was Charlotte Mary Charles.

There is a marriage of a Charlotte Mary Roberts to a William J Charles q1 1923 Machynlleth, Vol 11b Page 166, so a possibility?

I would be tempted to purchase the above marriage certificate to see if any details correspond with those you already know (age, occupation), this would then give you William's father.

Yes thats sounds as if it is right we have a family Welsh bible and there is a Charlotte Mary  Roberts there  but the bible is  for his wife's family and walsh ,so there is not much information on William we are trying to put the bits together . A relative said they remenber about the pub but just can't remenber their names as they were very young at the time  thanks again magicnanny

This may be of interest to you -

1901 -

Daniel Charles   31 b. Vau, Carmarthenshire, Coal Hewer
Margaret Charles    28 b. Vau, Carmarthenshire
Willie John Charles   4 b. Llwyngnia, Glamorgan
Margaret Ann Charles   4 b. Pontypridd, Glamorgan

RG13 Piece 5017 Folio 132 Page 17, Primrose Street, Ystradyfodwg

If you have the means I would check out this family on the next census.

There is a death of a Daniel Charles -

Daniel Charles
Birth Date - 1870
Date of Registration - Jun 1943
Age at Death - 73
Registration District - Brecknock
Vol 11b Page 71

Probate - Daniel Charles of 'The Siddons' High Street, Brecon died 31 May 1943, widow Margaret Charles.

Having put 'Siddons' into a search engine there is a pub called Sarah Siddons, 47 High Street, Brecon.

Food for thought  :)
