I was going to answer but you are all doing a fantastic job. I'm finding relatives for a friend as we are both Bush descendants. He is descended from James and his son Richard is a great grandfather. Richard was in the navy along with his cousin Augustus Jefford Bush (son of John L). I did see Philis Adams but didn't know the link. Thank you for that and the 1841 census. Can't find it on Ancestry but will look again.

Thank you very much

H

I've found the census now. Still no sign of Sarah Adaline.

Oh well thanks everyone.

Possible marriage for Sarah Adaline's parents.

October 1835

James Bush to Sarah Waldon

Sarah is from Christchurch.
James from Poole

Daughter perhaps with Mother's family ?

Just found on Ancestry, a list of officers and seamen and marines, on HMS Oberon receiving medals for the Crimea.

There is a James Bush age 26, Rank AB.
R (?received) 10th Nov 1855

That would make him born 1829/30, so unlikely to be the one fathering Sarah Adeline in 1835.

Hi thank you for your research. James Bush was not 26. That's the No on Ships book. Some sailors are 2 or 5.

I did find Sarah Walden but she would have been 14 for her first child. Still possible but I'm just not sure. Could explain her disappearance from the children because she married someone later.

Apologies for error. I shouldn't try and do two things at once.

Not at all. Very nice of you to search for me. I've ordered a marriage certificate for Sarah today as I think your right.

Many thanks

Re the James Bush on HMS Oberon, 'R' means 'Run' i.e. deserted, together with the date he ran.
