TWO JOHN MADDEN'S
« on: Friday 28 February 14 03:19 GMT (UK) »
John Madden (1) born 1833 Mountshannon, County Clare, Ireland - father Henry Madden and wife,  Grace Long married Hannah Hopkins in 1858,  Maitland N.S.W.  He was sponsored by Benjamin Long and his wife Catherine to Sydney aboard "Admiral Lyons" in 1855 he married Hannah Hopkins in 1858 at Maitland N.S.W.   They had ten children born in Hinton, Maitland, N.S.W.  We know John had one brother, Henry born 1838 in Ireland and came to Australia with John.

John Madden (2) born 1854 Galway, Ireland, - father Patrick and wife Sarah.  Married Hannah Reynolds in 1883 Ireland.  They travelled to Australia aboard "S.S. Cambodia" on 4th April, 1884.
John age 26 years and Hannah 23 years from Donegal, Ireland.   Their first son, Basil Trevor Madden was born 11th June, 1885, Hinton, Maitland N.S.W.

I feel that there must be a relationship between these two John Madden's - why else would they both come from Ireland to live in Hinton, Maitland.
Did John and Henry have another brother who stayed in Ireland?

Both John's and their wives Hannah were resident in Hinton, Maitland, N.S.W.

You could ask Clare library.

www.clarelibrary.ie

one was from Clare the other from galway, it might be just one of those things, my grandma was Maggie Madden from townland Rathmore, Bundoran, (near Ballyshannon) county donegal.
