Do you have his marriage cert it should show residence at time of marriage - May be of help to identify a locality.

Hi There and Welcome !

If you have the marriage cert do you have an occupation for his father Michael ?

I've noticed that the surname Ronan does not feature in Askamore from around the time that Matthew would have been born !

Hi There

Can you give us the name of Matthew's daughter's in birth order as this can sometimes give leads as to names for his Mum (traditional naming patterns).

Tara

There WERE Ronan's in Kilrush and one of the was a Michael Ronan.

Given the timeline AND the fact that Kilrush was on the marriage cert then I think the Michael Ronan of Graiguemore looks like a very good possibility !
