Please
Has anyone come across a Romany family with the surname STANFIELD please
I ask as My 3x great grandmother Jemima STANFIELD married a John Greatwood in 1846 giving her father as James and her adress as Hill Street. I cant find her in 1841 but there is a James living at Hill Street he was a hawker, a son was a nail maker and a daughter a prop maker.

Is it possible that these were from the Romany community?
Another of the Stanfields married a Whitehouse and I know I have a travelling Whitehouse family but have not connected this one to them yet
This is just a hunch at the moment and I would be grateful if you can add credence to the theory

Many thanks yes that is the birth I have but it's proving difficult to pin point her. when she married she said her father was James Stanfield a coach man and the only James in the area on the census (from the same Road as she said she was living in on the marriage ) was a hawker.
