Hi Mrs A,

I was thinking some of the later ones, may have been named after their natural father. Have you managed to get birth details of all the children.

Tom
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

Hi Mrs A,

Checked on SP gain, I cannot get a birth for a James Fawcett, other that the 1913 one we already discussed. We cannot get him in a census, due to 1921 census about 7 years from publication.

I tried the WW2 records on ancestry, but not many records of people who survived, most to the heroes who were killed.

So not too many records to chase him in UK at this time.

Have you tried tracing in New Zealand, he may have joined his sisters.

Have attached photo of Jimmy .His mother was Marion Lawson Fawcett nee Campbell
Jimmy was born out of wedlock as Marion was widowed aged 32. I can't find any trace of Jimmy on birth records, does anyone recognise his regiment from uniform?Royal Scots?

Have , at last, solved the mystery of Jimmy, the soldier in the photo.
He was born in 1920 to Marion Fawcwtt, nee Campbell, widowed. Father was James Muirhead, also a widow and who lived a few doors away in the same street.
So far, it appears that Jimmy died in Glasgow in 1978, he was using the surname Fawcett. Just waiting on death certificate to confirm that this is the same man.

Well done mrs a  ;)

It looks to have been a long old search for you. Fingers crossed the death registration confirms what you have found.

Jimmy did die in Glasgow in 1978. Found dead at home after coronary thrombosis. He was using the surname Fawcett, and was single. Death was registered by a police officer. How very sad, when he still had living siblings….
