Welcome to Rootschat Sarah,
If you haven't got it already here are details of Frank Stephenson ww1.

Lance Sergeant Frank Stephenson, 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, Service number 12122. aged 20yrs commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, date of death 8 June 1917.
son of George and Margaret Stephenson of 69 Cambridge Rd. Cargo Fleet.

The Gazette archives may have reference to the bonfire night accident in 1951.
other info like death certs, marriage certs and birth certs can all be had from Teesside indexes.

Good luck in you project.

Sarah,
If you post details of Frank, name, rank, number and  regiment on the ww1 page of the Armed Forces section someone will no doubt tell you his medal entitlement and other details of his regiment and actions they were involved in at the time of his death.
His service records may be available to purchase, but a lot were destroyed during the ww2 blitz.
