No info re: John Allinsons birthyear included in your post which makes looking for a death difficult - particularly as he may not have returned to Durham even if he ever returned from NZ

Did he have any other christian names?

Was he married?

How long "after 1930" did he go to NZ

J.T. Allinson of Wolsingham aged 22 travelled to Sydney, intended destination N.Z. , in 1931.

You can check this site for N.z. Deaths
https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/home/

Have you searched www.freebmd.org.uk for a U.K. Death?

You can also Google for the online indexes for the Australian States, in case he went there.

John Thomas Allinson, 23, Wolsingham, Durham, Farmer, returned to England  from NZ  on 17 September 1931 aboard SS Rangitata. So he did not stay long at all. And he travelled third class so he wasn't splashing uncle's inheritance around.

There is a possibility in quite a recent death, John Thomas Allinson, born 1 August 1908 death registered August 2004 aged 96, registration district North Yorkshire Register number A7, District and sub district 650/1A Entry number 215

This birth date would be consistent with an age of 22 when he arrived in NZ in March 1931 and an age of 23 when he arrived back in England in September. North Yorkshire is south of Co Durham.

If you don't have a sub to one of the sites offering the later Bmd indexes, your local public library will and you can have a look at the possibilities yourself, but the one I have given was the best fit I saw.

Thanks so much for this information about John although I am not sure that he had a second name of Thomas  but of coarse he could have added it and it is a family name. I also will not be able to access this death cert now as it is within the hundred years, much appreciated lnr

The UK does not have a 100 year restriction. You can order  this or other possibilities using the reference details provided above from the General Register Office here:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

A birth for a John Thomas Allinson was registered in the September quarter of 1908 in Weardale registration district. This would fit well with a 1 August birthdate. Wolsingham falls within the Weardale registration district. See www.freebmd.org.uk
