Hi
Thanks Dermo. I think the new site is quite good and I have managed to find a couple of records from the 1950s which I could'nt find elsewhere (familysearch,ancestry.com) which are of interest to me .Its just that they d'ont have  a page and volume number and was wondering if the ID code was enough to get the certs in the GRO.

I will probably be in the GRO on Wednesday so if no one has reported back before then I will let you know how I fare with the general registration ID.  I have a couple of post-1958 records to get for which I only have the code from the new site.

Hi. Was in gro werburgh st today gave them a group id from the online system and got a cert back no problem .  They can accept either that or the vol/page. They just have not got around to updating forms or information leaflets etc.

I didn't get to the GRO until today. I had the same experience as Meath999 - group ID numbers not a problem, though I got the impression they are less convenient for the staff than the volume and page numbers.
One thing I discovered is that you can get 8 certs per day now instead of 5.  I'm not sure if this is well known.  It was news to me.

I am not surprised Dermo as any time i've been to Wereburgh St there is an average of 8 to 10 people there and i've often been handed my certs within 2 mins of handing in the docket.
Where as in Abbey St the place used be so full i was locked out and told come back much later or early next day.
They have'nt been really run off their feet since moving to Wereburgh St.

You don't need to go to Dublin to get Certs... I was born in Dublin, now living Ck on Shannon and was recently asked to produce long/full version of my Birth Cert. I told person I hadn't time to go to Dublin and was told I only needed to go to local office to get it. I had page/volume number and got Cert immediately.
