Hello,

I am not very  good on the computer but I hope this will reach someone that can help me.  I am trying to trace a marriage for John Herriot to Jean Jackson, approx. date 1740 as I found the births and baptisms for thier six children. The first 2 children were twins born 1741 all the others born between 1741 to the last son, Adam, who was born in 1754.  Adam married Helen Hume in June 1781, all I know of Helen Hume is her father's name was John Hume, so any info on Helen and her familiy would also be helpful.
Adam Herriot and his siblings were born in Saltoun, East Lothian,  Adam died in Saltoun Lime Works in 1827 so any help with Adam or Helen's mother, father and siblings would be most helpful. Adam and Helen had two children, a son, George and a daughter, Helen both born in Stenton.

Thank you in advance for any information,

scotsannie

Hi,

I have also found the birth and baptism of Helen Herriot on FreeReg, too. She was born 18 Mar 1791 and baptised 27 Mar 1791 at Stenton. Same parents and witnesses were David Herriot again, and John Kerr.

Hi ,

I have searched on Scotlands People website, LDS and FreeReg, and I am not getting any result for marriage of John Her*iot and Jean Jackson, used wildcard and altered spellings. I can get resukts for John Heriot marrying but not to a Jean Jackson.

Hello Scotsannie,

You may be interested in this site - Bolton and Salton Church. It has MIs from Bolton, Salton and Pencaitland and there are a few Herriots mentioned.
