Have you ruled out the 1892 marriage Scotland's People in Angus between a female with forename 'Agnes' and a male with surname 'Tran' ... if you have not investigated this it would seem like a good place to start?

Hi there
Haven't checked it, Alexander's second name was Watson. His sisters second name began with a W as well.  Many thanks
Steve

Yes, Watson is the surname of the 'Agnes' who married Mr Tran in 1892 ... so will be worth your while spending a few £££

Let us know what the certificates say

Search on SP shows that Agnes Watson married John Tran 1892.
Marriage registered in Lochee, Dundee.

I cannot find a John Tran in Dundee at 1901 but cannot see a relevant death either.
2x John Tran deaths in Scotland between 1890 and 1901.
None  were registered in Dundee and neither were under 60yrs of age?

Worth investigating this John Tran below?  The marriage certificate should tell you his occupation ...
Feb 1895 from britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk
'SERIOUS CHARGES AGAINST DUNDEE PAINTER. John Tran, painter, Middle Street, was remitted to the Sheriff from Dundee Police Court to-day, charged with five acts of theft'
