Thomas Hayne Launceston 1840's
« on: Wednesday 04 July 12 10:31 BST (UK) »
Thomas Hayne silk-mercer of Southampton formerly of Launceston married to Miss Brendan of Launceston October 22 1841 at Stoke Church (Stoke Dameral)

How would I find a record of Thomas living in Launceston in 1835-1841, he is not in the 1841 census in Cornwall or Hampshire or to my knowlege (living with Margaret) or the 1851 Southampton census (he was dead)?

Thomas Hayne died March 1849 in Southampton and we think Margaret Brendan is his wifes name.

??? Why was he in Launceston? Was he born there? The census's don't tell me!

Thankyou so much doubleRR, the first two are exactly what I was looking for, with so many Thomas Haynes I couldn't get the right one no matter how hard I tried, the Launceston one was driving me crazy, especially not having birth dates for Thomas and Margaret  :)

this could be Margaret's baptism

http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/more-info/?t=baptisms&id=1179670

possibly the same Margaret who was witness to this marriage

http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/more-info/?t=marriages&id=710567

George Sargent Brendon was a draper in Launceston according to the baptisms of his children

http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/more-info/?t=baptisms&id=1225688

and his baptism shows him to be an older brother of Margaret
