CWGC has two entries for J. Macleod, deaths between 1/7/16 and 1/12/16.  One is for 3/7478 Pte J. Macleod, 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders, died 1/7/16 [first day of the Battle], the other for 3/5525, same name, 1st Battalion, Cameron Highlanders, died 23/7/16.  Both names are on theThiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.

Can you tell us what information was provided on the certificate and why you are sure it is the correct one ?
Might make it easier for us to help others in the future
