Cilwynnydd Llanfihangel Nant Bran
« on: Thursday 12 December 13 15:36 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I'm looking at the 1841 Census for Llanfihangel Nant Bran, and I see there are a lot of people recorded at Cilwynnyd. I can't find this area on the old maps. Does anyone know where this might be?
In particular, there is a record for Ty Issa, Cilwynnydd,  occupied by David Griffiths and his wife Mary. This is recorded immediately after Tynycwm (Williams Family).

Were there TWO Ty Issa's in LlNB? There is a Ty Issaf close to Penstar and the Old Mill in "Upper Llanfihangel Nant Bran" recorded in 1861 but this is a long way from Tynycwm...

Thanks Llanfi,

Merry Christmas!  :) :) :) :)

Ty Isaf and Cil Fynydd are next door to Tyn y Cwm on the 1887 1:2500 map at www.old-maps.co.uk.Use the search term- Tyn y Cwm,choose the Llanfihangel Nant Bran option and when the map loads choose the 1887 map as above.

Regards
Roger
