Birth of James Price
« on: Saturday 19 May 12 06:47 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the birth of James Price. He married Ann Smith on 13.3.1885, so I am guessing he was about 20 when he married. His son (also James) was born in 25.12.1889
Cheers Kristin

Hi

You can download the marriage from Scotlandspeple, that will give you both parents. You can then use Familysearch to find his birth (Familysearch has indexed Scottish Births and Marriages 1855 to 1875 from the Statutory Registers) this will help identify his birth on Scotlandspeople

I'm originally from Barrhead and my grandfather's name was James Price.

Some of the names posted by Sharon01 are very familiar to me as family names.

My grandfather had a brother called Samuel who went off to Florida, I believe his sister Jessie went of to the States too but returned to Scotland later in life and lived in Neilston.

If the James Price you are looking for is related to me then many of the names listed were used for his children either as first names or middle names. He had an Ann, a Jessie, a Janet, McIntosh features as a middle name for one of them and I think Smith does too.

James Price had 10 children, 8 girls and 2 boys, many  of whom still live in either Barrhead or Neilston. 2 of the girls are in Neilston, 2 in Barrhead and one son back in Barrhead.  I'm unfortunately not in contact with any of my aunts or uncles and my mum died a long time ago but I do know Jimmy Price still lives in Barrhead and I have a feeling he's like my Mum and not only good on history of Barrhead but knows who is who in the family. Might be worth getting hold of the voting role thingy to look him up (be careful tho', I've just read an old copy of the Barrhead News and a story of a James Price who killed someone recently - not related in anyway! ) you are looking for someone in his 70s now!

Please keep me posted!
