Hi Lorraine,
I have just seen your Question and think I can help you. Maybe we can even, help each other.
Sarah Heppenstall was my great grandmother, or more correctly Sarah Ann Heppenstall.
She was married to Charles Heppenstall, he died in 1893. My grandfather William was his second son,
the  first being Matthew. I have Sarah living at 10 Jumble Lane in the 1881 census.
I did not know that Sarah had a half brother, I have not got around to researching her family yet.

Regards Steve

Hi Steve

Sarahs Mother was Mary White her Father was William Palmer they married on 29th June 1852 in Barnsley Mary died in 1872 she was living with William Palmer  and his father ( also a William Palmer wif Sarah)in 1851 with her illegitimate son William White (Wyke) then married the son William . Unfortunatly the 1851 census was damaged and the end giving where they were born is missing . Have other info so will send more info .

Hello Lorraine,

Thankyou for the extra Info on William White, I already had the parents of Sarah and marriage year 1852 but not the exact date. Mary was Born ca 1819 in Barnsley.

It could be a coincidence, in the 1881 census Sarah was living at 10 Jumble Lane with her father and William Heppenstall with her son Matthew. Next door at 8 Jumble Lane was occupied by a Philip Palmer,Mary A. and  child George, Philip was a toy dealer Born in Spalding Lincs in 1822.

Let me know what Info you require.

Regards Steve

Hi Steve I have the marriage certificate for Mary White and William Palmer  Mary White was bapt 7 June 1818 parents were William White cordwainer and Elizabeth Hirst  who married on 4 August 1816 William White was from Nottingham have his bapt also  I have Sarah Palmers birth certificate also . did this side of the family some years ago . But my William White  joined the army and served in Canada for 5 1/2 years and then rejoined another regiment . He was a bit elusive at first until i found his death  . Was hoping some of his half sisters and brothers  might have known of him.

Will Pm my email and we can swap info
