1891 Debbs Square, Wakefield?
« on: Sunday 13 July 14 14:25 BST (UK) »
Hi all

Please can someone just do a check on an address in the 1891 census, for me?
I found the original transcription and kept that without looking at a transcription and now I can't read it! Basic error, I know ...

Anyway, the family is as follows ...
William HALL (Head) m 39yrs General shop dealer b. South Elmsal
Jesse CANNON Lodger s 27yrs b. Wakefield
Emily CANNON Lodger s 9yrs b. Wakefield
William CANNON Lodger s 2yrs b. Wakefield
Alfred CANNON Lodger s 2m b. Wakefield

The address looks like 5 Debbs Square, or maybe Webbs Square, but I can't find it on a modern map. It seems to be in the Northgate area of Wakefield, possibly just around the corner from Providence Street (which also appears on the census return)

Technical details are RG12/3748

Thanks,

MT ;)

I tend to agree, Carolanne, but there's no references ANYWHERE to Debbs Square in Wakefield.
I can usually google a place and find a reference to it or even an image from the turn of the century.
Can you see the transcription? What does that say?
I have no subscriptions to anywhere - I'm only on freebie stuff, and therein lies my problem. Last week I had 1000 freed credits from GenesReunited but they expired at Midnight on the 10th and try as I might, I hadn't used them all. Now, when I need them, I have no access! :(
