Title: LIVINGSTON/MCFARLAND New Brunswick Canada
Post by: Paulette on Wednesday 17 May 06 04:37 BST (UK)
Going Bug Eyed, we are searching for our roots:
Robert Livingston b. <1796> m. Elizabeth Mcfarland b. <1811> settled in Alma Albert New Brunswick in 1833.  They arrived with two children Letricia Ann b. 1831 and Andrew b. 1833.  They followed with Armour, Robert King, William Alexander (my gg grandfather) Isiah, Catherine, Samuel, David Brice, Able, Joseph and Saul.  We are unsure of their birth place, but believe it is Ireland.  We believe they came to Canada across the water, but have no other information.  If anyone can help us, we would be so grateful.
Thanks so much
Paulette

Hi Paulette,

Welcome to Rootschat!

Not sure if this is helpful, but I found a Robert Livingston, labourer who arrived in 1833 in New Brunswick.  He lists he residence as Market Hill, Co. Armagh, Ireland.

http://members.tripod.com/~albertnb/albhist.htm - the parish of Alma was set off from Harvey Parish in 1855, so for the newly online 1851 census of Canada you should look in Harvey Parish, Albert County, NB:

http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/1851/001005-100.01-e.html

(There are 38 pages there, shouldn't take you too long to find them hopefully!)

This census includes a 'year came to Canada' column.

Thanks for the information on the 1851 census.  Found them, but two eldest children are listed as born in Canada.? Now going back and checking out the ships list for 1832.

I have also been trying to find the same info you are looking for on Robert Livingstone and Elizabeth McFarlane with no luck. I'm going to New Brunswick in Sept to see what I can dig up.

Hi,
My gg-grandfather was Robert King Livingston/e, my grandmother was Lillian Isabella Livingstone daughter of George Nicholl Livingstone. I have been trying to find the land they live on in Harvey and Alma and the lost Livingston cemetery. I have found many newpaper articles and stories about them, but would like to knew more about where they lived in New Brunswisk and Ireland and who was in Robert Sr. family.

Hi again Paulette,

I don't have any info about Robert Livingston of Ireland, just what you have posted.  I did see some more on the Macfarland side on a family tree on ancestry.com.  Thank you for replying, I've been searching a long time for info on the Livingstones with no luck.  Your info has been most helpful.
