Hi, was Andrew the son of William Slessor & his wife Jane Gray? I note there's a submitted entry on familysearch for him. Of course you'll have details of his parentage off his marriage certificate. Anyway, William & Jane are at Blackpots,Old Deer in 1841 census.William 45,Jane 35, Alex.7, Janet 6,Jane 2,Margaret 2 months & there's also a Margaret Simpson aged 11 with them.William Slessor died at Blackpots on 8th January 1864 aged 68 years. He is buried in Old Deer Graveyard. His widow died 5th April 1897 in the West Poor House,Aberdeen. Aged 84,she was the daughter of Jane Bremner & her reputed father was ?Gray.

Hi fist,

Can you tell me any info on william slessor and margaret rainey. I do not have enough info to be totally convinced about their entry on my tree, hence the ? in my last post.
I have absolute confirmation on Robert Slessor & Elizabeth Buchan married on 3rd December 1785 in Cruden.

I only have a note of 3 children to this couple (there could be more).
Margaret born 9/2/1787,christened 12/2/1787
Robert born 6/12/1789,christened 9/12/1789
Alexander born 6/7/1792,christened 8/7/1792
They were born in Burntbrae. I got the information over 20 years ago from the Old Deer Episcopalian Church records.
Robert married Elspet Yeats on 2/9/1819.They're my husband's gt.gt.gt.gt.grandparents.They had 7 children & appear in the 1841 & 1851 censuses at Clackriach,Old Deer parish. Robert died 26/8/1857 at Maud.
It would appear therefore that your Robert cannot be the the son of William & Margaret. There are several Slessor families mentioned in the records. Can you give me more information on your Robert Slessor?

I would be interested in sharing any information about Slessors in the Aberdeen area especially back from Rosie Slessor b1897. She married a John Crammond. Her parents were Andrew b 1849 and Mary Dunbar b 1858.

Sorry I'm getting rather forgetful I think.

I can only go back to Andrew b1849 who married Mary Dunbar b1858.
He was living at 20A Young Street at one time and then moved to 41 Bonaccord Street. They married 01.01.1879.
Their children were Helen b1879, Andrew, Jane, David, William, John, Lawrence, Jesse and Rose b1897. Rose is my g. grandmother.
Apart from this I have no information at present.

Regards

Bill
