On 17 Oct 1874 the Oxford Journal reported the marriage of "..... Eliza, youngest daughter of the late Captain Richard Barnett (Merchant Service) of Barmouth, Merionethshire".

Helps reduce the search timeline.

Have spotted one death of a Captain Barnett, at sea

"While the gale was at its height on Tuesday evening (25th Oct 1859), a brig was seen to founder in the bay (Bridlington) with all hands. It has since been ascertained that she was the Benjamin, Captain Barnett, from Hartlepool, coal laden for the Thames".

Reported in several newsapers Oct 1859

THE RECENT STORM .
The York Herald  October 29, 1859
This report names him as Robert Barnett , of that place (Bridlington)

This was the "Great Storm" which battered the country , the Royal Charter was lost on the 26th October 1859  :(

Wilcoxon,
Good spot - thanks for eliminating that Richard Barnett from the frame.

FreeBMD Marriages - Ellen Barnett, Mar 1861, Machynlleth, 11b 239. On the same page Evan Jones Francis.

1861 Census (RG09 4239  48  25)
Evan J Francis, Head, Marr, 24, Bricklayer and Mason, b. Machynlleth
Ellen Lloyd Francis, Wife, Marr, 23, b. Barmouth
Mary Ann Barrett, Visitor, Unm, 17, Waiter in an hotel, b. Barmouth

Looking at the original, Barrett is probably a mistranscription - should be Barnett, the middle daughter?

Re. narrowing down Richard Barnett's death it would help knowing the "status" of Ellen Lloyd Barnett's father on the marriage certificate. Also, if it is Maria with Ellen on the '61 Census, did Maria marry before Eliza in 1874?

Baner Amserau  Cymru 14 Feb 1866.
This is a death announcement in Welsh. I`ve had some help in translating it and it reads roughly ;
On the 5th at Machynlleth aged 22 the wife of Mr Rees John Rees, she was the daughter of the late Captain Richard Barnett , Abermaw  ( Barmouth)

Births Mar 1866
REES  Maria    Machynlleth  11b 186

Deaths Mar 1866
REES  Maria  0  Machynlleth  11b 149
REES  Mary A  22  Machynlleth  11b 149

I can`t find a marriage of Mary A Barnett to Rees John Rees , very sad though - it seems she died in childbirth or very soon after .

With some more help from another person  I have the marriage.  :)

The marriage took place at Aberystwyth in 1863.
The reference is Aberystwyth December Quarter 1863, 11b 125.
It is recorded as between Rees John Rees and Mary Anne Burnett.
