Title: W'minster Archives L'up 1830-1837 please - St George Hanover Sq **COMPLETED**
Post by: Lady Di on Monday 18 May 09 14:06 BST (UK)
Hi Folks,

If SKS happens to be going to either LMA or Westminster Archives I'd appreciate a lookup of the St George Hanover Square parish records please.

I'm interested in witness names on two marriages (plus any other information not given below):

6 Dec 1828
Edith OTWAY  (s) married James BROCK (b) of St James Westminster - by Licence

4 Sep 1830
Ann Harriet Baylis/Bailis (W) marr. Charles Vander Gucht Esq. (B)  - by Licence

Also would like details of three (known) children to the last marriage:

c. 1832 Georgina Harriet Vandergucht
c. 1834 Charles Henry Vandergucht
c. 1835 Rosetta Mary Vandergucht

Any information that anyone could provide would be very welcome and much appreciated.

Many thanks

Di

Hi Di

From the marriage register St George Hanover Square

James Brock a bachelor of the parish of St James Westminster
and Edith Otway a spinster of this parish
were married in this church by licence
this 6th day of December in the year 1828
by me Even Nepean AM Curate
This marriage was solumnized between us
James Brock (signed his name)
Edith Otway (signed her name)
in the presence of
Charles C?y (signed his name, could be Candy)
Ann Harriet Baylis (signed her name)

and

Charles Vander Gucht Esquire a bachelor
and Ann Harriet Baylis a widow both of this parish
were married in this church by licence
this 4th day of September in the year 1830
by me James Glen AM Curate
This marriage was solumnized between us
Charles Vander Gucht (signed his name)
Ann Harriet Baylis (signed her name)
in the presence of
Wm Tinkler (signed his name)
Maria Emily Vander Gucht (siged her name)
(then either) Henry or Mary Vander Gucht (signed a name but the signature is hard to decipher)

There is a 'surname' index for baptisms, there are the following entries

1832 Vander Gucht
1834 Vander Gucht
1835 Vander Gucht
1838 Vander Gucht

I'm sorry I didn't have time this visit to check out the entries but will have another go on my next visit.

In the meantime, I hope this helps.

Both signed in presence of

Thanks ever so much for looking for that marriage Ian

The witnesses sure make interesting reading as it shows how my 2 x great grandparents most likely met as they were both witnesses at the same wedding.

Much appreciated

Di
