Title: Lord Mayors of York. Is there a list?

Does anyone know if there is a list of former Lord Mayor's of York.  I was told last night that a forebear of my husbands, named RYMER, was one in the mid-1800's

Don't know how true it is but would like to find out.

Hi Susan, I just looked at the website and saw they had some paintings on there. Wondered if you spotted the one of Alderman Sir Joseph Sykes Rymer, Lord Mayor of York
by Alford Usher Soord. It is dated 1914 so maybe not the same Rymer. Take a look on http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/paintings/alderman-sir-joseph-sykes-rymer-lord-mayor-10061

I notice this is a very old post, but yes, there is a list.

Joseph Sykes Rymer was Lord Mayor of York:
1887-8
1899-1900
1907-8
1912-13
(and he was knighted between 1900 and 1907  :))

Edwin John Leetham Rymer was Lord Mayor of York:
1928-9

I only picked up on this when I was looking for my mother's cousin, Marjorie Seward Bwye, Lord Mayor in 1985/6. One of only 2 up to 2000 women (I think) to have held the post. Let's hope the original poster spots the list and has a look.
