Title: McAdam of County Monaghan
Post by: thistlekid on Wednesday 23 November 05 02:27 GMT (UK)
I am searching for information regarding Thomas McAdam who was born about 1875 in County Monaghan.  I have little other information except that he married Bridget O'Dea who was from County Meath.  I believe they moved to Airdrie, Scotland around 1915.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I found a little bit of information regarding Thomas McAdam.  He was born in Castleshane, Monaghan, in 1875.  Now I would like to find his parents, Frank & Susan (Conlan) McAdam.  I believe they were also from Castleshane but I don't know when they were born or when they were married.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ,

I saw this post and just thought that I would add this . I am researching a Henry McAdams from Co. Monaghan that married a Margaret Flanigan of Tassan , Co. Monaghan  around the 1870's .

They had 2 daughters that I know of , the rest I don't know .

Margaret McAdams -

Mary Ann McAdams - b. 1877 , married a John Ruttledge in Co. Monaghan .

If you come accross these names , please let me know .

Aghadowey ,

Thank you for looking that up for me . Can I ask how you found that so fast. I tried using Family search and came up with nothing .

Is there a different website for the IGI .

Thank you ,

Megan

IGI is part of LDS site (www.familysearch.org). I got the details posted by doing a parent search.
On full search page put in father's Christian and surname and mother's Christian and surname or just her Christian name and NOTHING else. Census, etc. results will come up.
To narrow down the search (especially if parents have common names): On full search page click on 'International Genealogical Index' on left side of page. Follow steps for putting in parents names above but then select Region (British Isles) and Country (Ireland) you can also put in a County but if event is listed under 'Ireland' you could miss entries so I find it best to leave that box alone.

Thank you for that . I have always done my searching using the Home page search engine . That is probably why nothing ever comes up .

I am also trying to trace a Farrell McAdams who was a farm labourer and was married to a Margaret Moore. who in turn had a daughter called Ann.  As far as I know Ann was born about 1837.  However I have no idea which area they came from.  Ann eventually lived in Meryy Street in Motherwell.  Any help would be great. thanks
