Could please give some more names to work on and I will look it up for you next year. The Heritage cenre is closed for the holiday season and is moving to new permises. It could be the middle of next month before I get access to the census records.

Looked for Mc Kimmies in Forres 1851, but was only able to find two, none in Caroline Street.

John McKimmie was my great,great grandfather and he lived at 10 Caroline St, Forres. He died on 18th January 1870 aged 57 at 7 Caroline Street.

Forres 1841 is on Freecen. You'll find John there age shown as 25 (remember they rounded ages down in 1841) He is shown as a Tailor.

I am guessing here but are you descended from John McKimmie born 2 March 1843, Forres and who married Mary Ann Garden? John was one of my great grandfather James younger brothers and like him followed in their fathers footsteps and became a tailor. I do have quite a lot of information which I would be happy to share with you.

MY great Granny was a.Margaret Mary Ann Mackenzie father john mother Mary Ann mckimmie.She was born in 1863 in Forres .She married William Stewart from braefindon in the black isle in Ross shire in 1866.I believe she was a dressmaker.Also in the family are a Bridget mcguigan new calligan.A Annie Mackenzie emigrated to America and she married ? I believe I have found the mother of my great grandmother Margaret Mary Anne mckimmie.if I have the right family her mother was Mary Ann mckimmie who died in 1864 in forres.Her mother was a christian mckimmie maiden name Fraser born in forres.Mary Ann died and her daughter Margaret when to live with her paternal grandparents in culbokie in the black isle.If anyone us researching this family would like to share information about our family tree.

Heather, I am finding it a little difficult to follow some of your posts.
In one post you say your great grandmother was Margaret Mary Ann McKimmie, and in another post you say that she was Margaret Mary Ann McKenzie.
Then you say that she was born in 1863, then that she married in 1866. Obviously someone born in 1863 could not have married in 1866, so who was it who was born in 1863, and who was it who married in 1866?
Also, the SP index has no marriage of a Mar* M*k*ie to a W* St*art in 1866. Did you mean 1886?
And who was the Annie McKenzie who you say emigrated to America?

Don't know if this is the same familyBut I believe my gg grandmother Mary Ann mckimmie is the daughter of christian Fraser and john mckimmie .Her daughter Mary Ann had a daughter Margaret Mary Ann (Mackenzie) Born 1863 in forres morayshire.Her mother Mary Ann died in 1864 at 7 Caroline street forresIf it is the same family Margaret Mary Ann was living with her paternal grandparents in the black isle in culbokie Ross and cromarty.On the 1871 census she is listed as grand daughter aged 7 born in forres.As she was born in November that would fit in with a birth in 1863
