I am trying to find any information on a couple of families who were in Portland, Dorset in the 1800s. The families are White [an awfu name to have to look for], and Norster. I know a Henry Norster married a Mary White, and had a number of children one of whom migrated to Aus and married Theodore Pursey[ Percy}.
Any info would be appreciated.

Many thanks for the info. I already have have, as I was able to get it from the 1871 census from Ancestry.com.
I would like to find our more about Henry Norster and his wife Mary nee White. I have some of their children on the 1851 census but there is no sign of either Henry or Mary on that one, so I am just curious as where they may have been. I also have the children on the 1861 living with I assume Mary/s brother and his family, I know Henry didn't die until sometime in the 1870s.

Thank you so much for your reply. I would be grateful for anything on them. I haven;t got them on the 1841 census, but do have Elizabeth 25, Ann W 15 and Francis 9 on the 1851 census of Portland. I thought I had them on the 61 but no sign may have either not been able to find them of haven't had a chance to look Again I haven them on the 71 census. I remember I did find them on the 71 census but at the time it was a film and the copier at the LDS wasn't working so I had written it in a book.
I would like to know just how far back the families went I know White is a very common name that is why I was hesitant to start the research on them.
