Hello Marknis my ggg granddad how can I help.
Sorry, I can't see a link at the moment.

That reply was nearly 5yrs ago and appears to be based on replies posted. Your post gave no info as to Elizabeth's parentage so it looks as though some guesswork took place
-
Thanks.

Hi,
Are you still looking for Elizabeth Lythgoe - I did find one Elizabeth Lythgoe and her Mother, Mary, on the 1851 census - Elizabeth was 1 at the time and her Mum 24 - I presume you are still trying to look for on the 1861 census though?
-
With the benefit of time, GRO now shows that Elizabeth was illegitimate, so she could be with her married mother under a different surname in 1861.
Birth
Elizabeth Lythgoe no mmn December quarter 1849 in West Derby
Also, the death in 1859 was for a 64 year old, so not her.
-
The one year old Elizabeth and her Mother I unearthed in 1851 were both visitors to a Huxley family at a 9 Beresford Road in Toxteth - Mary was a laundress and unmarried.
-
You have not said who Mary's parents were.
In 1851 she and Elizabeth were visitors at an address in Beresford Road,
There is this marriage from lancashire parish clerks, but there are many others:
Married on 7th September 1851 in St Michael in the Hamlet, Aigburth, Lancashire, England
Thomas Pendleton - (X), full age, Labourer, Bachelor, Beresford Road
Mary Lythgoe - (X), full age, Spinster, High Park St
Groom's Father: William Pendleton, Labourer Bride's Father: Thomas Lythgoe, Wheelwright
Witnesses: Charles Musker, Robert Pendleton Married by Banns by Wm. Hesketh, Incumbent
-
Mary's parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Lythgoe.
-
So, if the 1 year old Elizabeth and her mother, Mary, listed as visitors , is the same Mary who married a Pendleton later that year, then Elizabeth Lythgoe could well have taken on the Pendleton surname along with her Mum?!?
-
Elizabeth Pendleton with parents Thomas and Mary, and siblings, can be found on 1861 census living in Litherland. They are also in several trees on Ancestry.
-
Many thanks 1banshee and chempat. It looks like you've solved the puzzle. I'll have to check it out further, but many, many, thanks. :)

Glad to help ScouseRicey - I know how frustrating it can be when a brick wall is hit, especially when you are armed with details! I'm still looking for numerous Irish relatives who came over to both Glasgow and Liverpool - all the details are there on various documents but finding them is proving to be fruitless up to now lol - hope it is your Elizabeth Lythgoe and the missing piece of the puzzle :)
